Following are some of the common questions regarding files.
Q. What is the difference between high resolution files and low resolution files? Why do I need both?
A. The high resolution file contains more of the information necessary to make a quality print of the image. A low resolution image will not print well because there is not enough information for the printer to produce a quality print. Your computer monitor doesn't need all that information to produce a quality image on the screen, and if you put a high resolution file on your website, it takes a long time for your computer to process the information and make it into an image, thus discouraging people from waiting to view your web page.
Q. Can't I just print the images off the website, or save them on my computer?
A. No. This is against federal copyright law. It is considered theft. This law protects my work from unauthorized use, and protects images of you, your farm, or horse from being used without your knowledge or permission by people who may not use them ethically.
Q. Why do I need a written agreement to use the digital files?
I have clients complete an agreement partially for the above reason of protection for both of us, and also because I need to track which images have been used and where. It is important for me to know because it helps me refine my work to be tailored even more to what my clients need.
